Denim Pocket Organisers

2016-04-17 16.09.33

Hello! Welcome back to another DIY blog post! This week we’ll be making small wall organisers made from an old pair of jeans.

What we’ll need:

  • Denim jeans
  • Embroidery hoop – I used a 7″ hoop
  • Fabric shears
  • Glue gun/needle and thread

.

Let’s get started!

Spread out your jeans on a flat surface and place the inside of the embroidery hoop over the top of one of the back pockets.

When you’re satisfied that the pocket will fit in the hoop, cut around it. Leave about 1½” all around the edges.

Now lay the denim pocket over the top of the inside ring and position the fabric so the pocket is exactly in the middle.

Press down the outside ring of the embroidery hoop over the top of the inside ring, trapping the fabric in between the two. Pull the fabric taut and then secure the screw at the top of the embroidery hoop.

Turn over the hoop and secure down all of the remaining fabric. I used a needle and thread just to tack down the fabric but I think a glue gun would work best!

Once you have all of the fabric secured down, you’re done! I’ll be making a set of these in the future which is why I’ve only tacked mine down because I might make a few adjustments yet!

You can hang them up on screws in the wall and store all sorts of things in them, I’ll be using mine for stationary storage. Join me next time for another DIY project!

And you’re done! If you have a go don’t forget to share your makes with us on Instagram @aboxofbuttons or on Twitter @aBoxofButtons! See you next time!
