Starting to get in the Christmas Spirit? The big day is just around the corner! Why not make these cute baubles for your Christmas tree?
This project is very similar to the Pumpkin Treat Holders so if you like this project you might want to check them out too!
What we’ll need:

- Wool
- PVA glue
- Small balloons (I used the tiny ones – water balloons)
- Sparkly string
- Tissue paper
- Treats to fill them – chocolate/sweets/messages anything you like!
- Small cup/s (I used egg cups)
Let’s get started!
Blow your balloons up to a small sphere. The sort of size a normal bauble is! You can make them bigger or smaller whichever suits you the most!

When you’re happy with the balloons we can start wrapping the wool! With the wool still attached in one big ball, unravel it a bit and dip the loose end into the glue. Using your fingers remove some of the glue so there’s a nice even coat all over. Begin to wrap the wool in any way over and around the balloon. It’ll start to look a bit like this:

Once you have finished wrapping the wool and the balloon, cut the end of the wool and glue it down. Place the wrapped balloon in your egg cup and leave it to dry.

I left mine to dry for about a day or so but to speed up the process a bit, you can use a hairdryer!

Now that the glue and wool are dry, pop the balloon and remove it from the centre.

You could pop some string around them now and hang them up but I decided to go one step further and fill them up!

I used dark blue tissue paper which I cut into 20cm² squares and placed this inside the baubles making sure that the paper went out to the sides.

All that’s left now is to pop the treats inside and tie some string on the top in a loop! And we’re done! I thought about using ribbon to add a bow to the top, I still might add a few to some!

I hope you enjoy making these! If you have a go don’t forget to share your makes with us on Instagram @aboxofbuttons or on Twitter @aBoxofButtons! See you next time!

I have made string baubles before, but never thought to hide a treat. I love this idea x
