Hama Bead Cup Toppers

Summer is in full swing and keeping your drinks bug free is a task! Try making our beach ball themed cup toppers to solve the problem!

What you’ll need:

  • Hama beads/Perler Beads (I’ve used orange, pink, yellow, green, blue and purple)
  • Circle pegboards
  • Ironing sheets
  • Iron

Let’s get started!

Our first step is to decide on our design! I have gone for a beach ball pattern to keep in with the summery theme. Check also that it will fit the top of your cup comfortably.

First, outline your pattern with the Hama beads on the pegboards. Doing an outline first makes it a lot easier especially if you make a mistake with your bead placement.

Once you are happy with the outline, you can then fill in the gaps. However, leave a small hole that a straw will fit through.

When your design is all filled in, place an iron sheet over it and iron the Hama beads on a medium heat setting.

Allow to cool, before peeling the coaster off of the pegboard.

And you’re done! I made four cup toppers in the end to make a set. Pop a straw through the middle of the coaster, place them on the top of a glass of your favourite beverage and enjoy!
